Powers: Rick Flag has no super-powers, but he is an elite military operative with an extensive background in demolitions, espionage and guerrilla warfare. Flag resents the notion that he might have anything in common with the killers under his command. While a respected military man himself, Flag suffers from mental instability, a problem that's only worsened by him spending so much time working with violent criminals. ![]() is the son of a decorated war veteran and the field leader for Task Force X (the government's official name for the Suicide Squad). It's also believed that Lawton's relationship with his estranged daughter will be the focus of his character arc. At several points in the trailer, Deadshot can be seen wearing his distinctive white mask with one red lens and firing his wrist-mounted guns. Movie/Comic Similarities: While Will Smith bears little resemblance to the Floyd Lawton of the comics, his costume is fairly close to the source material. His trademark weapons are a pair of wrist-mounted machine guns. Powers: Deadshot is an almost superhumanly skilled marksman and experienced with all manner of firearms and explosives. Unfortunately for him, his activities as Deadshot usually prevent Floyd from enjoying any quality family time. He's devoted to his young daughter in a way his father never was for Lawton. Once he accepts a contract, he doesn't give up until the job is finished.This hardened killer has a heart of gold, though. Deadshot Origin: Floyd Lawton rose up from an abusive childhood to hone his reputation as one of the most skilled and reliable assassins in the DC Universe. The movie also pulls from the New 52 by giving Harley a skimpy red and blue outfit rather than her traditional red and black jester suit. Movie/Comic Similarities: A brief shot in the new trailer of Joker raising Harley from a vat of chemicals suggests that the movie will be basing Harley's origin story on the one seen in the New 52 Suicide Squad series. Harley also has a reckless disregard for her own safety and the safety of others, which tends to serve her well in the heat of battle. She's particularly deadly with a giant mallet. Powers: Harley has no real powers per se, but her years of hanging out with Joker and battling the Dynamic Duo have made her a skilled, agile fighter. She's since struck out on her own, but she often finds that Joker's destructive influence is hard to shake off. Joker's influence drove her mad and compelled Harleen to become his costumed sidekick. Harleen Quinzel had a promising career in psychiatry until she developed an unhealthy fascination with her patient, the Joker. With the mission looking to be nothing more than Waller persuading her temporary lackeys to act against their own best interest, in the name her own, she effectively causes the group to distrust her - Katana included.Harley Quinn Origin: Dr. Originally operating under the illusion that she and her Suicide Squad compatriots are evacuating a high value target, while combating the menace that is the army of the Enchantress in Midway City, Katana and her teammates are surprised when they find out that their mission has always been about evacuating Amanda Waller. What do I do? What's the right and just thing? That's what prompts her to betray him in a way, and make that decision to go into the bar, away from Flag. When becomes something different than justice, which she is fighting for, which her character is based on, then there's a rift, there's a problem. Within the movie, Amanda Waller and moreso Rick Flag are her 'lords,' so she can't betray her lords, unless there's a problem with the way they're operating. It was a very hard scene, because Katana's loyal, she's fiercely loyal.
